ABOUT US - OUR TEAM
Sandy Stearns - Retired - Founder
Sandy is a true entrepreneur who embodies the American spirit of self-reliance and hard work. Her journey as a small business owner began in 1991 when she made an off-handed remark to the previous owner of Animal Nutrition Center in Roseville, expressing her interest in buying the business if the opportunity arose. Little did she know that her comment would lead to her running a successful operation that would span over three decades.
Sandy's passion for animals, particularly German Shepherds, drove her to work tirelessly with the area's veterinarians and specialists to help customers address their pets' health issues. She became well versed in the industry, working with holistic veterinarians and pet food company nutritionists to provide the best products and services to her loyal customers.
But Sandy's contributions to the community didn't stop there. She also devoted her time and resources to local non-profits that helped retired and injured police dogs. Her efforts did not go unnoticed, and she received an accommodation from the state legislature in recognition of her service.
Although Sandy has retired from the store, her legacy lives on through her daughter, Tracy, who continues to run Animal Nutrition Center with the same passion and dedication that her mother instilled in her. Sandy can still be found in and out of the store, running errands, getting her dogs washed, picking up food for her German Shepherds, or on her way to nose work with them. Her commitment to hard work, self-reliance, and love of animals make Sandy an inspiration to all..
Tracy Alford
Tracy Alford is a true success story. From an early age, she learned the value of hard work and determination through her mother's ownership of Animal Nutrition Center. Tracy started working at the store in high school and continued to do so through her college years at California State University, Chico, where she earned her degree in Public Administration and a minor in Forensic Sciences.
After college, Tracy worked for several large corporations that specialized in internet technologies, gaining invaluable experience in the business world. But in 2010, she felt drawn back to her roots and returned to Animal Nutrition & Grooming Center to help her mother run the store. Tracy was fascinated by the industry as a whole and spent countless hours learning from holistic veterinarians and nutritional specialists. She has gained a wealth of knowledge about the industry and enjoys sharing this information with customers to help their pets live their best lives.
Tracy believes in the value of hard work.. She is passionate about keeping up with industry trends, new products, and innovations. When not working at the store, she can usually be found with her three mini Husky mixes, who are like family to her. Tracy's dedication to her work, her love for her pets, and her commitment to her community make her a valuable member of our team at Animal Nutrition Center.
Chris Alford
Chris Alford brings a wealth of diverse experiences to the table. Prior to joining Animal Nutrition Center in 2010, Chris spent several years working in the IT industry. But he has always been passionate about animals and has owned many dogs and cats throughout his life. Chris has a natural talent for problem-solving and he loves nothing more than finding innovative solutions to complex issues.
In addition to his love of animals, Chris is also an avid guitarist and skateboarder. He found that his hobbies provided a unique outlet for his creativity and allowed him to think outside the box when it came to business solutions.
Since joining Animal Nutrition Center, Chris has been an integral part of the team. He brings a fresh perspective to the business and has implemented numerous improvements to the store's operations. His passion for animals and his dedication to problem-solving have made him an invaluable asset to the business.
Chris's dedication to the community and his love for animals have been a driving force in his life. He has been involved in the local animal welfare community and regularly participates in fundraisers and events to support the cause. Wave or honk if you see Chris walking his dogs near the store!
